Hot stone therapy is a relatively new practice in our society that has been arousing much attention - and with good reason. This form of therapy is extremely effective at relieving common ailments. I can state without question that this massage modality improves the following symptoms: poor circulation, muscular pains, aches and strains, nervous tension, Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS), lack of mobility due to stiffness, anxiety, difficult menstruation, poor lymphatic circulation, depression and insomnia

In instances where either swelling or inflammation are the problem, cold stones are used instead - toning and revitalizing the system. This has an extremely refreshing and stimulating effect.

At Stargazer Studios, we combine the art of Aromatherapy with a stone treatment - custom-blending essential oils that are specific to the clients' needs. We do not use a "standard" blend as eveyone's case is unique.

This form of treatment is somewhat more pricey than something like Swedish massage (many hot stone therapists charge up to $125 compared to the usual $80 most traditional massage therapists charge) as a stone treatment usually lasts longer (around 1 hour and 15 minutes) and much more preparation goes into a treatment - it takes approximately a half an hour to sanitize the stones between clients.

A stone therapy treatment is a full-body experience - we work on your legs, back, arms, face, neck, hands and feet. First we have you lay on a double row of warm, smooth stones - they gently radiate heat into your aching back. The essential oil blend is applied to your skin as we use smooth, warm stones to work on the front of your legs and insert narrow, warm, tiny stones between your toes (a real delight). We then move up to the shoulder, neck and face area. Afterwards, we work on your back - working up from the feet. All the while smooth, warm stones are used to gently massage your aching body using Aromatherapy massage techniques. The whole effect is nothing short of bliss. Nothing can compare.
